Memories of Uncle Bill

Since I was a boy I always felt a kindred spirit with my Uncle Bill.  I always had a very easy time relaxing and being around Bill even if it had been years since seeing him.

I may very literally only have funny stories to remember about Uncle Bill.  Playing his Apple computer as a small child and being convinced that Bill received the computer as a gift for saving the life of Prince Charles.  The time he wrote my sister Rebecca a check for $1 Milllion…and after whining about it, he cut me a check for $1 Million, too.   He probably had $20 to his name at the time, but thought it was hilarious cutting Million dollar checks!!  It was hilarious.  Those checks might still exist in the great lost library of photo albums from the ‘80s in my Mom’s house.  I drove his rusted out 1980 Toyota Truck for years in High School that he gave me for free and only needed some holes in the floor fixed and sealed, and the emergency break cable welded to the axle so that the light went on when you pulled the handle…not that there was an emergency break.  The same truck Bill would bring my sister and I to collect cans to recycle for money when we visited Suffield as kids.  And finally…when we drove up for Bill and Cindy’s wedding and we were all dressed up and drove out to the Suffield house and Bill and Cindy had just come back from a jog…and were supposed to be married in an hour!!
