Life Story for Maxine Erma White (Norrie)

Maxine Erma Norrie White, 77, of West Suffield, wife of the late Francis A. White, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in East Windsor on April 19, 1938, daughter of the late Wilfred and Fannie (Degreenia) Norrie, Maxine lived most of her life in Suffield, CT and Lanesboro, MA, and graduated from Suffield High School. Before her retirement, she was employed at Sears Department Store in Pittsfield, MA and Hertz Auto Rental in Windsor Locks.

Maxine enjoyed spending her time solving crossword puzzles, researching genealogy, and crocheting, spending time with family and friends and was fond of taking road trips to Vermont to visit relatives with her late Aunt Dot. Always a child at heart, Maxine loved the feel of mud squishing between her toes while playing in the mud puddles with her children and grandchildren. During her early years she and her sisters loved riding bikes through mud puddles in their Sunday dresses.

Not one to be left out, Maxine enjoyed hunting and fishing with Fran and the boys in Lanesboro where the boys were raised. She loved the time in Colorado where her grandson, Scott, was born and walking through the Garden of the Gods (one of her most favorite places).

She is survived by her two sons Wayne and his wife Laurie White of Granby, Christopher and his wife Dawn White of East Windsor; two brothers: Donald Norrie of West Suffield, and Robert Norrie of Southwick, MA; one sister: Pearl Tedford of Albany, NY; and three grandchildren: Scott, Carrie-Ann, and Brandon White. Besides her husband, Francis, she was predeceased by two sisters: Phyllis Colson and Deanna Galetta.

The Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 15, at 6 PM at Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-6pm prior to the funeral service. The burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in West Suffield Cemetery. For on-line condolences please visit: www.SuffieldFuneralHome.com
