Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Chapdelaine (Curran)

Mary E. (Curran) Chapdelaine passed away on December 4th, 2014. She was in the presence of her loving family when she passed. Born on April 3rd, 1926, in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine (Boland) Curran. Mary attended Cathedral High School in Springfield where she met her high school sweetheart, Bob. She attended business school after graduation. Mary and Bob were wed in 1950. They were married for 54 years until Bob’s passing in 2005.
Mary managed to work full time at Cigna. She was also a full-time mother to her three rambunctious, loving sons. She was active in her church, the Suffield community and was a tireless advocate for the underdog.
Few of her friends and family were aware that Mary was an avid hang glider and a white water rafting enthusiast.
She leaves her three sons: James Chapdelaine and wife Janine of West Hartford; Thomas Chapdelaine and wife Joanne of Fairfield; John Chapdelaine and fiancée Tatiana of Stafford Springs, CT. Three loving grandchildren, Thomas, Sarah and Annie Chapdelaine. She also leaves her sister, Noreen O’Shea; brother James Curran and sister Kathleen O’Neil as well as a gaggle of nieces and nephews scattered across the globe.
Additionally, the family would like to thank her “other family” at MeadowBrook of Granby for loving her and caring for her. We miss her already.
A Mass will be held, in celebration of her life, at Sacred Heart Church in Suffield (446 Mountain Road, Suffield) on Friday, December 12th at 10 AM followed by a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to: www.cureasc.org or www.ctchallenge.org Both organizations fight cancer. Mary would like that. The Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. For Mary’s Book of Memories please visit: www.SuffieldFuneralHome.com
