Obituary for Mildred Link (Newton)

Mildred Link, 94, beloved wife for 72 years of Walter Link, died at home on October 30, 2013. Mildred was born in Springfield, MA on November 13, 1918, daughter of Leon and Clara Newton. She moved to West Suffield in 1945 where she and her husband built their own home and raised their family. Mildred was very active in her church and especially enjoyed working with children. She was a Brownie Scout Leader for many years and retired in 1974 as Children's Storyteller, Windsor Locks Library. She was an accomplished knitter and craftsperson and for many years was a volunteer at the Big E Craft Adventure. Besides her husband Walter, Mildred leaves behind her children Leon Link of Enfield and Marleene DelGaizo and her husband William of Suffield; grandchildren David Link, John Link and his wife Jamie, Robert Link and his wife Kelly, and Kelli Allard and her husband Derek; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughter-in-law Cecile Link, brother Leon Newton and sister Elaine LaRoche. The family extends their most sincere thanks to Heather, Sharon, Rodette, Senia and Jennifer who lovingly and compassionately cared for Mildred, and for Kathy of Masonicare Hospice for her devotion and support The funeral will be Monday November 4 at 9 AM from the Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Rd. West Suffield with a Mass of Christian Sacred Heart Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery Poquonock.
