Obituary for James "Jim" Reay

James "Jim" Reay
James Eugene Reay, age 79, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fl.

James was born September 7th, 1932, in Westerly RI, son of Tyrrel Harry Reay and Suzannah Reay. James graduated from Westerly High School class of 1950. James married Annie Dalene on October 24, 1970, in Charlestown, RI.

After the beautiful wedding at Nordic Lodge on Passquisset Pond, James, Annie, and son Paul moved into a home across the lake from the Nordic Lodge and lived there until 2005 but not without a wonderful addition to the family in 1972, James Eric Reay. As Paul and Eric were growing up they helped their Mother and Father to build a beautiful home on the lake that is still standing today.

After graduating high school, James served four years in the Navy and went on to start his own plumbing business in Charlestown, Rhode Island. James sold real estate before working as a manager with Kenyon Piece Dye Works in Kenyon, RI for 23 years retiring in 1995. At Kenyon Piece Dye Works James had a wonderful knack in turning out some of the best sailcloth in the world. James spent many years with the Knights Of Columbus where he was a Grand Master for a term.

James truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, taking pictures, singing, playing many instruments, carpentry and spending time with his loving family. James had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He loved his Sauna and all the people that shared one with him. Many family, friends, and visitors were fortunate to earn a “Knights Of The Sauna” diploma for enduring a good hot Sauna and a ritual James put them through.

James is survived by his loving wife, Annie; sisters, Karen Reay Flaherty and her husband John J Flaherty, Doreen Reay Main and her husband Charles, daughter; Sherry Lee Reay; son; James Eric Reay and his wife Colleen; step children, Ann Mitchell and her husband James, Kenneth Lindeland and his wife Brenda, Paul Lindeland and his wife Diane, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James was predeceased by his brother, Tyrrel Reay (2002) and his wife Stella Souza Reay; grandson; Collin Lindeland.

Family, friends, and others whose lives James touched are invited to the Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Rd, West Suffield, Ct 06093. Calling hours will be on June 2, 2012, at 10 a.m. with a service of remembrance at 11 a.m.
