From there he worked as a Superintendent in the residential construction industry until he left to start Suffield Hardware, Inc. with his wife Ruth in 1991. They opened the store in the Suffield Shopping Center until purchasing the old post office and moved into the renovated building in its current location on Mountain Rd. After 25 years in the hardware business they retired and their son George has taken it over.
