Obituary for Robert Charles "Bobby" Hinckley

Robert (Bobby) C. Hinckley, 82, lifelong resident of Suffield, passed away on Monday March 12, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Suffield, son of the late Alvah and Dora (Robinson) Hinckley. Bobby graduated from Suffield High School and went right to work in construction.

Bobby worked for Kement Construction, Dew Construction, and the Manafort Brothers as a crane operator, and finally retired from Arborio Construction Company. He loved and was proud of his work and always said how grateful he was for the opportunity to work for such great companies. Bobby was forever telling stories about the buildings he helped build.

Bobby was always known for having a green lawn and clean shiny trucks. His greatest joy was watching his sons and grandchildren during their sporting events, especially hockey. Bobby had a special passion for horses. He used to train trick ponies.

Bobby is survived by his wife Shirley Ann (Colson) Hinckley; two sons Bobby and his wife Melisa Hinckley of Westfield, MA, Danny and his wife Fran Hinckley of Somers; two daughters Shirley and her husband John Zavisza of Suffield, Robin and her husband Craig Wachs of West Suffield; nine grandchildren; JR, Britney, Tracie, Bobby J, Corey, Becky, Lyndsey, Ashley, Jessica, and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 16, at 7:00PM at the Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road West Suffield, calling hours will be prior to the funeral home service from 4:00-7:00PM. Burial will be Saturday, March 17 at 10:00AM from the Heritage Funeral Home in procession to Woodlawn Cemetery, Bridge St. Suffield.

In lieu of flowers, Bobby would love for donations to be sent to the Connecticut Humane Society where he found his best friend, Chance.
