Obituary for Stephen Wayne Ayotte

Stephen Wayne Ayotte, 68, passed away suddenly at his home in West Suffield, CT on May 15, 2017 surrounded by the love of his wife and children. He was predeceased by his parents Roland and Irma (Cormier) Ayotte of Granby, CT. He served in the Navy, 6th Fleet Mediterranean from 1969 to 1972. Upon completion of serving his country he joined the family business, Ayotte Brothers Construction, where he remained for over 40 years and recently retired as President.


He is survived by his loving “favorite” wife, Betty Jane Ayotte of West Suffield, daughter, Nicki Ayotte-Bull, spouse Lenny Bull III and their three children, Lenny IV, Stephen and Samantha of North Granby, CT; and his son, Jamie Ayotte, spouse Danelle and their daughter Madeleine of East Hartland, CT; and Steven Patalano, his stepson and significant other, Donna DeMattia of Bridgeport, CT.

Steve is also survived by his 3 siblings, sister, Sandra MacDowell of West Suffield, his brother Lester Ayotte, spouse Andrea of Granby, CT and his brother Michael Ayotte of Southwick, MA. Steve leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews; Shannon Stauffer, Justin Ayotte, Danielle Ayotte, Renee Peerless, Morgan McDowell, Shelby Ayotte, Dylan Ayotte and many great nieces and nephews.


Steve Ayotte lived on Congamond Lake on South pond for close to 40 years, he was known around the lake for is iconic, “Yodio!” and “The Canon”. His sense of humor and love of pranking people was unmatched. Steve cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed boating and tubing with them. He enjoyed entertaining so much that he built an outside kitchen at the lake and his BADA BING Club up top where great memories are still being made. He loved taking his grandchildren to breakfast at Millie’s and The Boat House before school after he finally retired. He had so many friends it’s truly impossible to count.


Steve’s family will receive friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Heritage Funeral Home at 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield on Friday, May 19th. Please join the family at Heritage Funeral Home at 9 am Saturday, May 20 to pay your last respects followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 288 Sheep pasture Road in Southwick, MA. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hill Street, Suffield.


Steve’s family would like to say a special thanks to Suffield Police Department, Suffield Volunteer Ambulance and Windsor Locks Ambulance departments for their efforts that morning.
