Lawrence Ware  "Larry"  Bulgier

Lawrence Ware Bulgier, 90, of West Suffield, beloved husband of Stephanie R. (Mayr) Bulgier, passed away on April 20, 2017. Born in Beaumont, Texas on October 30, 1926, son of the late Chester and Grace (Ware) Bulgier; he was born, raised, and married in Beaumont, TX.

Larry was a World War II Airforce Veteran. He received a Bachelors of Engineering; and a Masters in Math and Engineering. He worked at Rocketdyne and was responsible for making the rocket engines for the moon program. At that time, came up with a proposed design for a nuclear rocket for a Mars voyage, back in the '60s. The research paper he wrote can still be found on the NASA website. He also was employed with Combustion Engineering for 25 years, retiring in 1991.

He attended West Suffield Congregational Church and was a former Deacon. Larry was an avid member of the Farmington Valley Trails Council, who enjoyed bird watching, bicycling, trains, reading, and studying the Civil War. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and told his wife after every meal it was the best meal he ever had.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 61 years, Stephanie R. Bulgier, two sons Mark Stephen Bulgier and his wife Laurie Foster of Washington, Paul Richard Bulgier and his partner Tanja Vranich of Washington; four grandchildren Andrea Gusman, Jesse Bulgier, Danielle Man, Megan Williams; five great grandchildren; two sisters: Grace Lichey and her husband Curtis of NC, Susan McGuire and her husband Jerry of TX. Larry was predeceased by a daughter Barbara Ann Fain; a sister Ann Stanley; and brother Chester Bulgier.
