Hazel (Campbell) Phillips, 88, of Suffield, beloved wife of Joseph ‘Jo’ Phillips for over 65 years, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Born in Suffield on November 19, 1927 daughter of the late Alexander and Frances (Varley) Campbell and lived in Suffield all her life.

Hazel was employed at Arrow-Hart & Hegeman, before working for Piltches Chicken Factory in Enfield, and retired after 27 years of employment from The First National Bank of Suffield as Vice President.

Hazel was an active volunteer in many organizations including sitting on the Board of Directors on the Suffield Emergency Aid and The First Baptist Church, Hill St. Suffield; and the secretary Suffield Historical Society; and past president the AARP Suffield Branch. She traveled the world bird watching; she was a member of the Allen Bird Club, Feeding Hills, MA, and Audubon Society. She had a love of music, especially classical music, and played the piano every day. Hazel also loved to swim and spent endless hours with family jumping the waves at Watch Hill, RI.

Hazel is survived by her husband Joseph Phillips of Suffield, daughters Diane Phillips of Windsor Locks and Christine Cooke of Suffield; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Donald Campbell; and three sisters Ruth Campbell Ott, Jean Campbell Ames and Betty O’Brien.

The Funeral Services will be on Saturday, March 19 at 11am at the Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bridge St., Suffield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, March 18 from 4-6pm, and again from 10-11am on Saturday, prior to the funeral service.
