Obituary for Richard "Dick" Rutz

Richard (Dick) C. Rutz, 77, of Stuart, FL, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, West Palm Beach, FL.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he lived in Stuart for 17 years, coming from West Suffield, CT.

He was a graduate of Purdue University. He was proud to have been an Eagle Scout. He was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church in Stuart, where he was an Elder.

Before retiring he was an aeronautical engineer for Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT for 28 years. He also had been an FAA DER with his own aviation consulting firm.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Linda Rutz of Stuart; his daughters, Marcia Soucie and her husband, Clay of West Suffield, Cheryl Pizzale and her partner, Barry Johnson of Goffstown NH, and Melanie Rutz Flynn and her husband, Kevin of West Suffield. He also leaves six grandchildren; Rick Gemme, Rebecca Chiarello and her husband Mike and Ryan Gemme all of West Suffield, Kristen Saunders and her husband Matt of Marlborough, MA., Emily Pizzale and Nicholas Pizzale of N. Fayston, VT.

Dick was an avid golfer, UCONN basketball and NASCAR fan.

SERVICES: There will be a brief service in the Memory Garden following the 10:00 AM worship on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Peace Presbyterian Church. There will be additional services on March 1, 2014 in West Suffield. Friends may call at The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, CT from 9-11AM prior to Memorial Service at 11AM.

Memorial Donations may be made in his name to Peace Presbyterian Church “Salerno Bay Manor Fund”, 4881 SE Cove Road, Stuart, FL 34997 or the Victory Junction Camp, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City, FL and Heritage Funeral Home, West Suffield, will handle the arrangements in CT.
